On Tuesday, April 29, 2008, Ron Wardrup resigned as Chair of the Executive Committee of the Butler County Democratic Party. Ron Wardrup’s tenure was a highly successful one, with local appearances of Governor Ted Strickland and United States Senator Sherrod Brown. Wardrup was also prominent in calls for the Ohio Ethics Committee to investigate the Butler County Commissioners for their decision concerning questionable retirement buyouts and substantial pay increases to individuals related to commissioners, and questionable hiring practices.
The Party will announce an upcoming date for the current Executive Committee to select a new chair. In the interim, the Party will be led by Executive Committee Vice Chair Glenda Smith and Central Committee Chair John Holcomb.
The Butler County Democratic Party greatly appreciates the efforts of Ron Wardrup during his time as chair and wishes him nothing but the best.
The Butler County Democratic Party will be holding its Annual Fundraising Dinner on May 16, 2008 at the Manchester Inn in Middletown. The Truman-Kennedy-Holcomb Dinner is a very special annual event for the Democratic Party. This year our keynote speaker will be Lt. Governor Lee Fisher. We are very excited about the dinner, and would like to extend an invitation to you to be a part of this year’s event.
In conjunction with our dinner, we will be holding a silent auction.
This is an exciting year for the Democratic Party. For the first time in many years the majority of voters in Butler County are Democratic. If you’re interested in attending this year’s dinner, please call our headquarters at 896-5201.

Campaign season is in full swing and now is the time to get involved! All of our committees have still been meeting and they are now putting their plans in place so we can keep up the momentum. Come to the meeting and learn about the many ways you can help. Also, we will be reviewing recent meetings, such as our first two Central and Executive Committee trainings, and be reporting on upcoming events, including the Truman Kennedy Holcomb Dinner and others. Additionally, we will be hearing from our outstanding candidates and finding out how we can support them in their efforts.
Please make every attempt to come spend some time with us. We are very interested in sharing our thoughts and ideas and hearing your feedback along with new ideas on how to make our party even better.
